Creating Respectful Classrooms where Teachers Can Teach and Students Can Learn is the foundation for increasing student achievement. This basic classroom management PD workshop is ideal for beginning teachers, teachers who are struggling, and education majors. Through active particiaption, teachers/teacher candidates will be involved in role-play, pairs, triads, small group discussions as well as question-answer format where, in a risk-free environment, individuals can discover the answers to their myriad questions and concerns. Participants will leave with functional tools, which they can immediately implement in their classrooms.

Supporting Literacy through Physical Education is a workshop that will validate and empower district physical education teachers, and will bring them more actively into the mix for increasing student achievement!
The curricular area of physical education has too often been left out of the equation of district initiatives to increase students' literacy skills. This mindset has ignored valuable contributions that PE teachers are already making. The key is to identify the connection!
Supporting Literacy through Physical Education workshop will clearly demonstrate the connection of literacy and physical education. My colleague and friend, Patricia Martin, former Director of ELA and Literacy, and I developed this workshop by bringing the strengths of our respective educational backgrounds and experience to a point of intersection.
Workshop participants will be actively engaged in meaningful activities, and they will leave this workshop with tools to immediately implement strategies common to literacy and PE.
Supporting Literacy through Physical Education provides the missing link in validating and empowering our master PE teachers in helping to educate the whole child.

Dealing with Difficult, Defiant and Unmotivated Students is a workshop that I recently presented to a K-12 Hamilton County school in Chattanooga, TN. Evaluation comments ranged from, "When will you come back to present again? This is exactly what we needed!" to "Will you come back and come into my classroom to help me? Now I have something real that I can use."
Unless all the students are on the bus and the teacher is in the drivers seat, learning will be compromised. Teachers need to assert their authority in a consistent manner that demonstrates their classroom leadership, yet maintains the dignity of each of his/her students.
Specific skills will be taught and practiced in this interactive workshop that teachers can immediately implement into their classrooms.
This is yet another PD offering or a full-day workshop for School Improvement Day offered by Barb Adams. Contact Barb at (585) 200-8769 or email barb@barbarafadams.com to get complete details on this offering!
